Born in Philadelphia to Thomas Joseph Hackett Sr. and Winifred (nee Glenn). Thomas attended West Catholic Boys High School and graduated in 1955. He married the love of his life Joan (nee Read) and had eight children. In 1971, they moved their family to New Jersey, where he became a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed playing softball in various leagues. Tom worked for TPFC for 20 years as a systems analyst before his retirement in 1989. He had a great eagerness for life and appreciation of the Earth’s beauty. He was an avid photographer, loved buying and selling antiques and collecting sports memorabilia. Tom was the epitome of a great man, touching the lives of everyone he came in contact with, with his kind, gentle, and caring heart. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Beloved father of Thomas Hackett III, the late James Hackett, Joan Benko (John), John Hackett (Alicia), the late Elaine Varevice, the late Elizabeth Laird, Robert Hackett (Zephanie), and Paul Hackett (Leslie). Proud grandfather of fifteen, great-grandfather of twenty, and great-great-grandfather of two. Dear brother of Jim Hackett (Pat), the late Mary Marshman, and the late Paul Hackett. Urn visitation will be Tuesday, January 12, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012, where his memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM. Facial coverings, social distancing, and restricted building capacity will be enforced.
