Sonja Vogel

Sonja Vogel (nee Slickmeyer), longtime resident of Blackwood, NJ, passed away September 7, 2020 at the age of 84 years. Devoted wife of Robert Vogel. Beloved mother of Sharon Vogel (Dan Ertz) of Woodlynne, NJ, Karen Vogel, of Sewell, NJ, June Mary Hulbert (Chris), of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Wendy Cristella (Mike) of Blackwood, NJ. Proud grandmother of Justin Hulbert, Sonja Kibby (Bob Baum), Josh Hulbert (Veronica), Rob Ertz (Stephanie), Gary Ertz, Danielle Ertz, Mike Cristella, Jr., Zachary Miles, Florie Hulbert, and Nicole Cristella; and great-grandmother of Peter Baum, Brandon Baum, Isabella Hulbert, and Jackson Hulbert. Dear sister of Mary Hicken (the late Bill), Fred Slickmeyer (Maryann), Jake Slickmeyer (Kathy), the late Donald Slickmeyer, and the late Robert Slickmeyer. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Sonja graduated from Cooper Nursing School and devoted her life to many aspects of care throughout South Jersey. She worked at Cooper Hospital, Camden, NJ, Camden County College, Blackwood, NJ, Bayada Nursing, Voorhees, NJ, Kennedy Hospital, Stratford, and VNA in Runnemede, NJ. Sonja served as a former deacon at Word Fellowship Church, a former women’s advisor at New Life Church, was a lifelong bible study teacher, and a current member of Converge Church, Moorestown, NJ. She was also a longtime member of the Clementon Lions Club. Sonja was an avid game player and especially loved playing board games with her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time in Ocean City, NJ, and liked to parasail over the water. Sonja liked to read and delighted in bird watching from her porch. She was also an incredibly computer savvy senior. Viewing will be Monday, September 14, 2020 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012, where her funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM.
