The devoted husband of Pearl C. Kentrus (nee Kahley), whom he married in 1969. Ron was born in Philadelphia on February 7, 1934. He served active duty with the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 and continued with the U.S. Army Reserve until 1961. He worked a long successful career as a film editor and writer in New York City before his retirement. Ron was a resident of the Glen Oaks section of Gloucester Twp., since 1974. He was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Parish/St. Agnes Church, where he formerly served as Church Sacristan, and was a Knight of the 3rd Degree with Holy Crusaders K of C Council #9193. He was also a Secular Franciscan volunteering with the St. Francis Inn Ministries in Philadelphia for many years. Those who knew Ron, will remember him for his kindness, gentleness and his generosity. He was always first to volunteer his time, whether it be for his Church, his neighbor, or the days he volunteered to sit with patients at Samaritan Hospice, Ron didn’t often say no. Ron is survived by his beloved wife Pearl, his nephew Albert, and his nieces Helen, Susan and Jackie. He was predeceased by his brother Albert Vincent Kentrus. Viewing will be Friday, February 19, 2021 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Hope Parish/St. Agnes Church, 701 Little Gloucester Rd., Blackwood, NJ 08012, where his Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will take place at 2:00 PM Friday at Brig. General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. Contributions in his memory would be appreciated to Our Lady of Hope Parish, or to St. Francis Inn, 2441 Kensington Ave., Phila., PA 19125.
