Many friends and family described him as the “gold standard” of husband, father, family man, Catholic church member, and all-around human being. He was an exceptional father and grandfather and showed his never-ending support by being the first one in the stands at every sporting event, performance, and attending every sacrament. Never one to miss an opportunity to spend time with family and friends, he would host an annual Kentucky Derby party to share his love of horse racing with the people he loved most. He was also the host of an annual “crab cook” at his house and held the lofty title of “crab aficionado”. Rich loved the Jersey Shore and especially liked to spend time in Wildwood and Sea Isle. He felt at home walking the beaches and fishing in the ocean. As a young man Rich enjoyed hunting.. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, and was even a former season ticket holder.
