Marie Stratoti

January 4, 1927 - January 23, 2022

Marie Stratoti (nee Gaiser), a resident of Washington Twp., NJ, formerly of Deptford, NJ, Sicklerville, NJ and N. Wildwood, NJ, passed away January 23, 2022, at the age of 95 years. Beloved wife of the late Dominick J. Stratoti, who predeceased her in 1993. Loving mother of Stephen Stratoti (Karen), Linda Lemmel (Jack), and Gregory Stratoti (Marlena). Proud grandmother of Stephen Stratoti (Arielle), Michael Stratoti (Cassie), David Stratoti (Christie), Matthew Lemmel, Rebecca Leifer (Michael), Lindsey Lemmel, Kelly Anne Stratoti (Odira Anyachonkeya) and six great grandchildren. Marie was born in Philadelphia, PA, on January 4, 1927 to the late Harry and Florence Gaiser. Orphaned by the age of eight, she lived with her paternal grandparents until at the age of 16, when she left school, got a job, an apartment, and embarked on a life marked by hard work and self-sufficiency. In her early 20’s, she was introduced to her future husband, Dominick Stratoti. They settled in South Philadelphia, where she worked various jobs outside the home while raising their three children. In the late 1960’s, Marie entered the hospitality industry when she and Dominick purchased their first of many motels, eventually relocating the family to North Wildwood, NJ. Marie was a keen businesswoman, successfully owning or managing four motels during her lifetime. Never one to sit idle, she continued to work into her 80’s. Marie enjoyed traveling and dancing, tending her flowers, and playing games with her children and friends. She was particularly adept at crocheting, making several beautiful baby blankets for her grandchildren and even her great grandchildren Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren and seeing the births of all of her great grandchildren. She loved lunch out at the local diner, Chick-Fil-A and dinners at local Italian restaurants. Her mind was sharp until the end, never forgetting a birthday, anniversary or telling the nurses that they got her medication wrong. Throughout her life, she overcame life’s hurdles, always maintaining an upbeat and positive attitude. Marie will always be remembered as the feisty redhead. She will be sorely missed. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at Our Lady of Hope Parish/ St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, 402 S. Black Horse Pike, Blackwood, NJ 08012, where her Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing, NJ.
