George M. Jackson, Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

George M. Jackson, Jr., of Washington Twp., NJ, formerly of Gloucester Twp., NJ, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, February 23, 2022, at the age of 84 years. Devoted husband of Margaret K. Jackson (nee Kurschat). Beloved father of Grete “Gretchen” Gerber (Stephen) of Washington Twp. and the late George M. Jackson, III. Proud grandfather of George S. Gerber. Dear brother of Dolores O’Neill and the late Edith Mesmer. Loving uncle of Bernadette Gizelbach. George served his Country in the Unites States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Era Veteran serving three enlistments and was further deployed to the Middle East, Moracco, and South East Asia. He worked for many years as a Sheet Metal worker for Local #19, Sheet Metal Workers Int’l, from which he retired in 2000. He then worked for Camden County Public Works for an additional ten years prior to fully retiring. Throughout his life, George spent many years at the Jersey Shore owning and operating Jackson’s Pier in the Villas. He was an avid fisherman and sponsored numerous fishing tournaments. He was proud of the beachfront home that he built himself and enjoyed many summers there with his family and friends. George had a passion for travel and throughout his life he visited most of the United States and has been to all of the seven continents. He loved adventurous excursions that took him to unique destinations such as Antarctica, Australia, China, and Peru. He especially loved traveling to the Galapagos Islands with his grandson. Urn visitation will be Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Hope Parish / St. Agnes Church, 701 Little Gloucester Road, Blackwood, NJ 08012, where his Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Urn burial next to his late son will immediately follow.
