Eugene Szalai Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Eugene Szalai, of Hilltop, NJ, passed away June 9, 2020 at the age of 56 years. Beloved son of Julianna Szalai and the late Jeno Szalai. Father of Brian Szalai and Laurie Donahue (Richard). Treasured brother of Violet Szucs. Loving uncle of Nicholas Szucs. He is also survived by his dear friend and former wife, Cathleen Szalai. Eugene was an incredibly intelligent and diverse man. He used his wealth of knowledge to work in a variety of occupations. He worked as a boiler mechanic, private investigator, real estate agent, and even played a vital role in the development of technology used to triangulate cell phone signals. His love for technology was vast, but he had a particular interest in computers and made it a point to have one from their inception to present day. Eugene also had a soft spot for animals, especially cats. Eugene’s life will be celebrated privately by his family due to the healthcare crisis of COVID-19. A memorial celebration for friends and family will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center, P.O.
