Christopher J. Jernegan

December 4, 1988 - February 23, 2020

Christopher J. Jernegan, of Westville, NJ, and W. Deptford, NJ, passed away on February 23, 2020 at the age of 31 years. Beloved son of Christopher Jernegan and Terri Jernegan (nee Venable). Dear brother of Kyle Gallagher and Konnor Jernegan. Loving longtime companion of Jamie Manion. He is also survived by; his maternal grandmother Judith Verdon Burns; his stepmother Darleen Dixon; as well as a large loving family of many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Chris was born December 4, 1988 in Woodbury, NJ. He was a 2007 graduate of Haddon Twp. High School, and a member of the basketball team. He enjoyed playing basketball with kids of all ages, he truly loved the game. But basketball was just the beginning when it came to supporting the young adults and children in Chris’ life. Chris was the big kid, the one they looked up to. Chris knew what it was like to be from a divorced parent family, and he went that extra mile for a kid who needed to feel loved. Chris spent countless hours playing and entertaining the children of his extended family. Whether it be playing in the pool, making it a kid’s day at the movies, wrestling in the back yard, or teaching a sport they didn’t know, the kids knew who they could count on for a fun day, and many lives have been better with Chris being a part of them. People knew what a great dad Chris would be some day. For almost seven years Chris was an inspiration to others with his hard work in staying sober and clean from his addiction. He hoped to build a wonderful future for the love of his life, Jamie, in the house they shared together; and for the career he had with Local # 255 where he was on his way to becoming a Journeyman Carpenter. His dad recently spoke of Chris saying, “As a father, Chris made me want to be a better person, with love and understanding”. He had a big heart, a spontaneous and entertaining sense of humor, and was always there to offer help to anyone who needed it. He loved animals, especially his dog Rollins. Chris spent much of his free time traveling to dog parks for Rollins to play, and he frequented the Gloucester Twp. Dog Park, where he sometimes visited twice per day. Chris gave his whole heart to those he loved, and he will be painfully missed. Viewing will be Friday, February 28, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012, where a service will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing, NJ.
