Fini, longtime resident of Hilltop, NJ, passed away December 13, 2020, at the age of 90 years; devoted husband to the late Helen Marie (nee Boehmke) for 60 years; dear son of the late Domenick and the late Ernestine (nee Liberati); beloved father of Joanne DiGennaro (James), Richard Fini (Judith), the late Patricia Gagliardi (Joseph), Alfred Fini (Cynthia), Eileen Roselli (Michael), Robert Fini (Christine), Domenick Fini (Sonya), and Carolyn Dellorco (Frank). Doting grandfather of Mariadina, Angela, Robert, Gabriel, Richard, Leesa, Nicholas, Vincent, Marissa, Sarah, Rachel, Elizabeth, Natalie, Domenick, Juliana, and Caroline; great-grandfather of Brooks, Carson, Felix, and Oliver. Dear brother of the late Marie Cosentino and the late Anthony Fini. Dear uncle of Rosemarie MacMillan (nee Cosentino). He is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Al was born in Philadelphia, PA, on December 14, 1929 and moved to NJ when he was in elementary school, attending Gloucester Township Public Schools, graduating from Haddonfield Memorial High School and going on to earn his bachelor’s degree as a member of the first graduating class of Rutgers University in Camden, NJ. He served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1953. Al became a licensed professional engineer, working for GE in Philadelphia , PA , where he was part of the team that launched Bonny the monkey into space as part of NASA’s Biosatellite III program. He later worked at RCA in Moorestown , NJ , and continued when the company changed hands becoming GE, Martin Marietta, and ultimately Lockheed Martin. After retirement he returned to Lockheed Martin as an outside consultant. Al was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish/St. Agnes Church. Al was devoted to his parents, wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities, sports, concerts, and recitals. He was a very active supporter for the Highland High School Booster Club. As a local historian, Al was deeply interested in the history of Gloucester Township and would often give presentations of local history to civic organizations and clubs. Funeral Mass for family and friends will be Monday, December 21, 2020, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Hope Parish/St. Agnes Church, 701 Little Gloucester Rd., Blackwood, NJ 08012. Burial will follow at St. Joseph 's Cemetery, Chews Landing, NJ. (Facial coverings and social distancing will be required at all times).
