Deacon William J. Drum, age 85 years, a 47 year resident of Blackwood, NJ, formerly of the Fairmount section of Phila., PA, died on March 3, 2010. Beloved husband of 47 years to Dolores Jane Drum (nee Ryan). Devoted father of: Kevin Drum (Jean) of Westville, NJ, Denis Drum (MaryEllen) of Medford, NJ, and Eileen Marie Ploski (James) of Blackwood, NJ. Proud and loving grandfather of: Moira Elizabeth Drum, the late Christopher Michael Drum, Michael Timothy Drum, Katherine Elizabeth Drum, Connor James Ploski, and Evan Michael Ploski. Dear brother of: Marie Glickman (William) of Phila., PA, Rita Patricia Maguire of North Wales, PA, and Helen Quigley (Thomas) of Phila., PA. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
Bill was a Veteran of World War II, 1942-1946, United States Navy, corpsman attached to the US Marines in the South Pacific Theater. He served as a Special Agent, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (BATF), Phila., PA, 1960-1980. After retiring, he went on to work for Harrah’s Hotel & Casino, Atlantic City, NJ as an Internal Investigator, 1980 – 1990. He was a Permanent Deacon, Diocese of Camden, 1988-2010 serving St. Jude’s Parish of Blackwood, where he was also a member (4th Degree) of Knights of Columbus Council # 12092.
Viewings will be Sunday 6:00 – 8:00 PM, and Monday 8:45-9:45 AM at St. Jude’s R. C. Church, 402 S. Black Horse Pike, Blackwood, NJ 08012, where his Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 AM Monday. Interment will take place at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory would be appreciated to the St. Jude/St. Agnes St. Vincent De Paul Society, 701 Little Gloucester Rd. Blackwood, NJ 08012.
